Northern Ireland looks to England for best practice

Northern Irelands College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise (CAFRE) has acknowledged the Consortiums expertise to help it develop a new lesson observation and peer review system as part of a move to introduce new arrangements.
In December 2007, Alastair Taylor spent two days at the Greenmount Campus helping 25 staff members develop and practice the necessary skills. A follow-up visit is planned for May 2008.
Commenting on his experiences in Northern Ireland, Alastair Taylor commented “The set-up in Northern Ireland is quite different to things here in England but not surprisingly; the challenges and issues are much the same. I think we have a lot in common and its has been a real privilege to work with colleagues from CAFRE to explore arrangements for lesson observations and peer review”
It is planned that this will be the start of a longer term relationship in which staff from ELITE Consortium Colleges will support quality improvement arrangements in Northern Ireland.
