Cutting greenhouse gasses – we are doing our bit

In a move to cut greenhouse gasses and save time, the Consortium Management Group which comprises of the five Principals and the Executive Director - Alastair Taylor have decided to hold their quarterly management meetings by means of a telephone conference.

It is estimated that for each meeting this will save at least 20 hours of driving time, not to mention a significant reduction in carbon emissions.

Commenting on this approach, Executive Director Alastair Taylor said “This has to be the right way forward! The consortium’s colleges are located in all corners of the country and to pull everyone together for a meeting can take up a whole day, not to mention the cost to the environment of everyone driving the length and breadth of the country”

“We plan to make much more use of telephone conferencing in the future. With this in mind, the Consortium has set up a permanent telephone conferencing facility which is available for use at any time. If three or more staff from different colleges need to talk business, then why not make use of the telephone conferencing facility” he added
